Happy Bee-day!

Ok, so a few nights ago I was browsing around YouTube and found this adorable beehive card and I decided that I just HAD to make it. This card was originally made by Sarah at Live, Love, and SCRAP!. I of course put my own little twist on it but I think it came out awesome! Go check out Sarah's blog and YouTube channel...she does some super cute stuff! Her blog link is www.liveloveandscrap.blogspot.com and her YouTube channel is www.youtube.com/user/liveloveandSCRAP.

Today was the first time that I've really used the Cricut Craft Room. If you haven't used it yet, go check it out! It is AWESOME! It's really handy especially if you don't own a Gypsy, like myself :) The tutorials Cricut provides for the craft room are wonderful and are a must watch for newbies. The card is a shape card and you need to know how to weld images using your Gypsy or the Craft Room. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube for welding with the Gypsy and the Craft Room videos show you how to do this. With that said, here are the details of this card:

All cuts come from the Create a Critter Cartridge

Front

Card Base: Pg 68 Accessory (no shift) @ 4.5 in welded together and tick marks removed using black cardstock.
Top layer: Pg 68 Accessory (shift) @ 4.5in using honeycomb paper.
Main Bee: Pg 68 (all layers used) @ 2.5in dark yellow, black, and metallic white cardstock. Popped up on 2 thicknesses of foam tape I purchased at Big Lots. You could use whatever kind of dimensional adhesive that you have.
Flowers: Pg 66 Accessory @ 1.25in green, blue, and pink cardstock. I also colored the flowers using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen in Clear Star.
Little Bees: I carefully cut individual bees from the cardstock that I used for my mat on the inside of the card. I also colored parts of them using the same Sakura pen I used on the flowers.
Sentiment: Printed using Word "Happy" using Impact and "Bee-day!" using Minya Nouvelle (bold) @ 14 pts. Cut out the sentiment, notched the right side to make it look like a banner and inked around it using Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Black Soot.
I then finished off the front with a black and white gingham ribbon I got at Michaels.

Inside

Large Mat: Pg 68 Accessory (same as cardbase) @ 4in tick marks removed and using honeycomb paper with bees (so cute!). I also cut off the top heart.
Small Mat: Pg 68 Accessory (same as large mat) @ 3in tick marks removed using white cardstock.
Bee: Pg 68 (all layers used) @ 1.25in face cuts removed using the same papers that were used for the bee on the front of the card and cut off the top heart.

WOW that was a lot to type! Maybe one of these days I will make some videos myself :) Some of you might be wondering where I got the bee themed paper from. They are actually digital papers that I printed out. I love the idea of digital papers because I will never run out! I purchased them from Hello Love Too on Etsy (www.etsy.com/shop/hellolovetoo). She has digital papers packs and clip art packs ranging from $2.50 to $5.95. She currently has a sale right now, 3 digital paper sets for $10 and 5 paper sets for $15. So many cute things. Check out her shop if you get a chance.

Well there is my little card. It will fit in an A2 sized envelope. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. Again, thank you to Sarah at Live, Love, and SCRAP for coming up with such a super cute card! It has inspired me to create more shape cards.

Thank you for coming by and have a wonderful day!

Happy Crafting,

Recipe Box

Here is a little project that I was wanting to work on for quite a while. I finally finished it (mostly) and I think it came out pretty well! I mostly used the From My Kitchen cartridge, but I also used Create a Critter and Sweet Treats for a couple of the cuts. Can you guess which ones?! As for the patterned paper, I used the Citrus Stack from DCWV. I think the colors in that stack match my kitchen perfectly! As for the box, it's just a small wooden box that I got from Michael's for about $5. I just cut out the papers and used Modge Podge to glue it down. Once I got the main papers down, I got a sanding block and sanded down the corners/edges and inked around it a bit using Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink. I added another thin layer of glue to glue down the cut outs. Once that dried a bit, I added another fairly thick layer of glue to the whole box. I did about 2 more layers of glue and BAM! Finished! Now it's just time to print out some recipes and add 'em :) I will probably laminate the recipe cards though, just to make sure they are protected from spills.

I had so much fun making this. I'm currently makings a similar one for my mom. I'm using the Lemon Flower DCWV stack for hers to match her kitchen.

Thank you for coming by my page! Have a wonderful day :)

Hugs & Best Wishes,

Cricut Cardz Challenge #106: "April Showers"

I am entering this little card into the Cricut Cardz Challenge (www.cardztv.blogspot.com).

I cut the bird, umbrella, clouds and rain drops from the Create a Critter cartridge. I also used the Accent Essentials cartridge to cut out the green/white polka dot and blue mats for the front and the inside of the card. The papers I used came from the ColorBok Spring Morning stack and from the DCWV Glam Gal stack. I inked around the clouds with some Tim Holtz distress ink in black soot and colored over the little rain drops using Gelly Roll Stardust pen in clear.

I can't wait to see everyone's cards! Thanks for taking a look at mine :)

Wowie!

I've been so busy getting ready to move that I've been slacking on my card making! I gave a little lesson to my mom tonight on how to make cards and use her Cricut. I can't believe she's had that thing for years and doesn't really know how to use it! She even told me that she never looked at the book that comes with the cartridges...she just goes off of what's on the overlay! Good thing she has me to show her ;)

Anywho...I managed to make a couple of cards tonight with her. One is for my Aunt's birthday...and the other one is for a very dear friend of mine that is retiring from the Air Force after 20 years! I wish the best of luck to her during her transition back into civilian life. I'll be making my transition right along with her! I've only been in for 6 years though :-P

Thank You Cards

A friend of mine has a small business and asked me if I could make some "Thank You" cards for her to send out with her items. She sent me a picture of her business card and this is what I came up with! She wanted something organized where she could write a personal thank you note as well as care instructions for her items. I also included a little slot where she could stick her business card.

Finished Bridal Shower Invitations....Finally!!

Since my sister liked my easel/slider card so much, we decided to use that idea to make her bridal shower invites. 3 days later we finally finished all 46 of them! I love this card but I will never use this design to mass produce cards lol. It took WAY too long to do! The dress on the card was made to mimic her dress :) This was made WITHOUT using my Cricut (shocking I know!). The dress and the flowers were made from punches!

Bridal Shower Invites

So I've been working all night with my sister making her bridal shower invitations! I keep wondering why I decided to make a card with a lot of little parts lol. They should be super cute by time we are done though! Pictures to follow soon :)
